The legacy of a great man

On March 8, 2011 @ 4:15pm my eldest brother William went home to be with the Lord. It was a rainy Tuesday and I wonder if the angels were crying because of rejoicing or because of the earthly loss? I am lead to believe it was a little of both.

William’s current lineage: Being a son, an eldest brother to three siblings, an uncle to six and great-uncle to seven, a husband to the love of his life, a father to three amazing children one son whom he raised as his own, and two daughters whom were his little princesses, a father-in-law to two outstanding son-in-loves, and last but not the lesser - a grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren.

His legacy: He was honest, kind, gentle, soft spoken, and good-humored. He was a man who loved to be a jokester “all in good fun”; he was a hard worker, a great provider, and very dedicated. He loved to laugh and smile even in some trying times. Maybe most importantly, he was a man who loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, and soul while being a great servant to the very end.

On the day William received Christ’s free gift of salvation he understood the depth of his sins and the need of a Savior. Even though most would have considered him one of the good guys he still understood the depravity of his soul and knew he could not be in God’s grace without the recognition of his sins through repentance thus asking God to setup camp within his soul. He understood his life was no longer his to do as he pleased, but yet as God commanded. William sold out to his Savior Lord Jesus.

Although William was not a man of many words, he spoke when needed while showing God’s love through all of his actions. He proudly served in his church via a “Bus Ministry”. This ministry really hit home with William because as children it is how we all became exposed to the love of Jesus Christ and His people. He knew the need and importance of getting those less fortunate children and sometimes adults to feel and find the grace of God! He also knew that providing a place of safety for just a few hours each week to these children would pay huge dividends in the game of life as he realized this Bus Ministry had come full circle for and through him while experiencing over 30 children who dedicate their lives to Jesus. William also knew those children were being provided an awesome inheritance and their own opportunity of changing the lives of their families and eventually coming full circle themselves – just like William. Praise is to God for my brother William T. Wair and the life he lived and the legacy he has left behind.

I know my Heavenly Father is saying to him; job well done my good and faithful servant! As he now dances around the thrown of his Heavenly Father without any sadness, pain, or tears. He only knows the joy of now seeing the importance first hand of being a true and faithful Servant to the Lord. It is easy to become sad and tearful for my earthly loss, but when I think of his joyous time in heaven and his earthly legacy, my tears quickly turn into smiles knowing how blessed I was to call him my Big Brother Weyem!

He will be missed here as mentioned, but as his Pastor noted during his service; what William is enjoying today in Heaven only reminds me that I too will see him again and if you profess Christ as your Savior and live for Him, you too will be able to rejoice with him in paradise!

I am sure in time other post will come in regards to this awesome man whom I called brother but for now I leave you with:

"This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe."
1 Timothy 4:9-10
